The Visual Art week is primarily focus on artists who create the cultural resources of our shared future. The workshops in this week aim to offer a practice-based approach to technical, conceptual, historical and critical contexts of Visual Arts by providing the participants the skills and knowledge to define and innovate within their chosen cultural and artistic field.

Introduction to Arabic Calligraphy for Art and Design

The workshop aims to introduce the participants to the field of Arabic calligraphy from history to fine art and craftsmanship, as well as typography as a design discipline. The participants will work and learn about:

  • Main Classical Calligraphy Styles, tools and Materials
  • Demonstration of the Alphabet Structure and Writing Techniques
  • The Golden Ratio and Aesthetics
  • Composition in Art and Design
  • Critique of Selected Calligraphy and Logotype projects
  • Assignments to design a word or a phrase of their choice as workshop project, and at the end of reviews and critique will take place
